A collaboration between LinkBuild, Homeless Peoples Federation Philippines, Inc (HPFPI) the Davao City LGU and the Department for Education, this project served government school teachers who did not previously have access to decent homes. Fifteen houses were constructed using a load-bearing earth-based construction method called Interlocking Compressed Earth Block technology (ICEBs), making the homes eco-friendly. An efficient and low-cost sanitation system has also been used made from recycled plastic septic tank.
These homeowners were able to access to housing finance through endorsement from the Homeless People’s Federation of the Philippines, which supported the clients in strengthening their savings and forming a homeowners’ association. Clients were required to provide a deposit of around 20% of the sales price, with the remaining amount loaned from LinkBuild.
The plots, provided by the Davao City government, are located in the Los Amigos resettlement site.
