This resettlement project, consisting of 46 homes, serves families that had secured housing plots from Davao City Government’s programme to provide secure tenure to informal settlers. The homeowners are derived from a list of people affected by demolitions. These families are informally employed and were previously living in poor conditions.
Homes are equipped with water, sanitation and energy, with the site infrastructure provided by the government. The project involves climate-smart construction, with the use of load bearing earth blocks known as Interlocking Compressed Earth Blocks (ICEB).
Homes are one-bedroom detached units with a toilet, a bathroom and provision for a kitchen. They were purchased by the clients using mortgage loans that were provided through CoreACS, a microfinance sister company of LinkBuild. With a repayment period of 5 years, the houses were structurally designed to be incrementally extended as the homeowners’ financial situations improve, following the repayment of their initial loan.
Clients estimated to sit between 11th and 20th percentiles of incomes in Davao
